I've had this art blog for a long time now, but I never bothered posting the link over here. So here it is :)
It contains material that I don't post here such as sketches and WIPS.

It was a fun ride :) But with the volume of commissions I took for this batch balanced with the non DA client related work, I have to admit I was almost at the brink of a burn out. Then again, that would be my fault because I intentionally left my status open overnight. That said, now I have some time to think in how I'll approach it the next time I open up, in terms of the variety of things I could offer and what pricing suits them. I do apologize if I was not able to respond to some offers, I probably overlooked them.

So, the next time I'll open it up, I'll have a new commission information.

To my past clients, thanks again for giving me the opportunity(s) to interpret your characters!

I honestly didn't expect to receive that many commission offers last night.
Because of it, I'm afraid I'd have to close it down for a while until I finish a couple.

Commission Information

To keep things in order and to reassure that you're being kept track of, here's a list of users that I agreed on doing commissions with.
Just to be clear, it's a first come first serve basis. So there's gonna be a number limit on the active list based on the work load I could handle at the moment..
The rest would be put in a waiting list.

Active List:

Commissions Information

Once again, starting small with a small scope.

Current Offers:
   Single Character 45 USD

Policy:
I will only begin working on the image once a 50% upfront or full payment has been made.
I will only give the final and hi res version of the image once payment is in full.

Process:
Once I get a job from a client, don't send any payment to me until I give you the go signal
This is to avoid any possible delay frustrations post-payment because sometimes I have another job
or something else that needs to be handled.

This is how I always go with client-artist interaction:
I start by showing them a few rough line studies of the character. Once approved,
I start with the coloring stage. At this point, depending on how long it's taking or
whether I need some confirmation or approval regarding an aspect of the image,
   I will show progress shots.

Payment type:
Either pay in full initially or 50/50 upfront, your choice.
Transaction are done through Paypal: jeromejacinto@yahoo.com

Sample Images. Click them to view their full versions.

If you are interested in getting a commission from me,
send me a note or an email to jeromesinto@gmail.com regarding it!

I only require reference(s) for your character(s) and
a description of how you want him/her to be behaving/posed in the image.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Cheers and have a nice day!

After a very long time of working on big projects,
I realized I wanted to handle some chill, smaller ones again here on DA.
Although my commission status has been on close status here, it's obvious that you, the viewer,
have probably seen a few recent character commissions
posted during the stretch of time of working on the bigger projects.
I felt I needed something different on the side to get some variety on my overall production
as an illustrator, that's why I took the said few character commissions.

During my past busy months, the jobs I've handled in both big and small
had given me enough experience so that my art process and visual style
progressed respectively to something faster and, for a lack of a better term,
more 'defined'.

Here are sample images done using the current method and visual style:
Click the images for the larger versions.

I realized that back then I've received several notes
regarding commissions, and I refused to accept most of them for
schedule and workload reasons. But after all that's happened in my
career, I'm considering to officially open my commission status and
take smaller projects on, better if I could do them on a regular basis.

So here's an honest question,
would you be interested in commissions
with the quality of the images above?
I'm mostly considering character commissions
at the moment so as not to conflict with my schedule.

Pricing and other specifics are not perfectly set in stone at the moment,
but this is something I wanted to ask for a while now :)

This journal entry is a day late for the news, but Armello has officially launched as Version 1.0 on Steam and PS4 as a digital download! You can click that smug looking thane too to go to the steam store page :D

Apart from Armello, for the past 3 months, I've been collaborating behind the scenes with Pocketwatch Games, developers of "Monaco: What's Yours is Mine", on the general art direction their new and upcoming RTS game "Tooth and Tail". Particularly, I've been working on the portraits for the in game units, such as these peeps: they of which represent the more detailed and upclose look of their in game pixel made counter parts made by industry veteran Adam deGrandis:

Now just to clarify, Tooth and Tail is formerly known as LEADtoFIRE. The same name which I made a poster for back then.
  LEADtoFIRE by chichapie
There are quite a handful of units in the game, and each of them gets a detailed portrait. Production is still going on, and we as a team hope to have a profound journey. And I love working with the team! And this project has given me the kind of experience and collaboration I need as an illustrator and professional in the field.

More detailed information on the game's production viewed HERE.

On the other side of the plate, I've been also working behind the scenes on a set of comic pages as a side story for :iconkobb: and :icontdcpresents:'s weekly webcomic Beyond The Western Deep. The pages are fully painted and rendered with care :) The side story comic will be revealed soon, so just stay tuned on the webcomic's home page for updates.

With all that mentioned, it's why I rarely frequent DA for the past few months. I'm thankful that get to work on big projects that I could only dream of not so long ago. I certainly want to be active and open my commission status over here again, just like old times when I started my freelance career.

Hm, how do I say this. Two years since muh last journal entry. Well, given that I'm an absolute sloth when it comes to writing, I shouldn't be surprised at myself. If in case any of my watchers are wondering where the heck I've been; well I guess I subconsciously took a really long break from DA, not bothering to see how loooong I was out. Perhaps it's because I've reached the point of my art that I want to re assess the quality I deliver after feeling burnt out from work, perhaps it's because of frequent parkour training days, my contemplating on what to do with my life as a 28 year old dude, nevertheless, the important thing is I've recovered from my artistic burnout and I have regained some of the drive that I used to have before. But let's face reality, during my long break I've had new experiences and encountered different paths which I decided to take. What I'm trying to say is, that digital painting isn't just my only burning passion anymore. So the time I usually have to paint are divided and balanced out. As a human being first before an artist, I do my best to experience the world and be more than what I can be.

To those who have sent me notes regarding requests, commissions, or other inquiries important to the sender, I have to apologize, but I haven't read any of them until now. Seriously, this is the first time I logged into my account again. :(

Regardless, it's good to be back :)

skyrim.

Also, here's an update on the Metro.

Progress has been slower than usual.
The last part of the script is almost done being proof-read.
Mostly concentrated on backgrounds and scenes. Only a few left.
Remaining character sprites will have to wait until all BGs and scenes are done.

In short, it's almost there, but alot of polishing needs to be done.

However, I've decided to change some parts of the direction for the better.
To get a glimpse of what I mean, look at this pic [OLD<--->NEW]
Though it might be true that the old character sprites are rendered in a painterly manner, they didn't seem to pop out from the background as much as I wanted to.
Standing out from the background is exactly the thing I wanted to have in the new direction the sprites are taking. Not to mention it's much faster to do and easy on the eyes.

The background images also underwent an overhaul. Originally, they were planned to be rendered in watercolor. However, I find it ultimately time consuming and bad in scanning, especially nowadays that mostly I work digitally. So I decided to do them digitally while applying enough adjustments and textures to have a watercolor feel (as seen in the pic above) and match the backgrounds that are already done in watercolor. Speaking of those old backgrounds, they'll still be used definitely regardless it being rendered traditionally.

So a couple of people here and there asked me if I was interested to livestream my work. I'm actually open to it. It's been quite a long time since I drew in front of an audience. Seems challenging as well since I don't want to make people waiting on me ;)

But here I come to question my abilities. Are you willing to watch someone who works slower than usual livestreamer artists? A character illustration rendered with the best of my abilities usually last 1 to 3 days, but that is due to frequent breaks and vidya. I'm also not confident with my internet speed :( It kinda sucks, especially at night time.

On a side note, Here's an update on 'The Metro'

All dialogues are being proofread by someone else, which will definitely take time.
Character sprites are almost done.
I've finished alto of Backgrounds and Scene images in the past few weeks, but there are still a handful left.
Some of the BGM are done but needs some polishing. The rest are still incomplete with only the main melody around.
An opening video is still in the works.
After all that is done, I have to put it all in the game engine. A tedious but faster task than the rest above.

It's quite difficult juggling the Metro with work. I apologize to those who're waiting if it's taking too long.

Hey DA peeps, I just like to make it clear that whenever anyone of you guys wanna add me on YM, please do so with a message stating the reason you're adding me.

I've been getting a lot of anonymous users lately adding me without any intro message. I ignored them, thinking that they're just some random user looking for a random person to chat with.

Now I'm just letting you guys know because if ever one of those random users I ignored are actually here from DA, or some who wanted to do business with me, please accept my apology.

###COMMISSION INFORMATION###

Before anything, I'd like to apologize for the lack of specific sample images that will give you a clear idea of what you will get for the standard and EPIC quality options, so the samples below are merely there to give you an idea of what I do in each category. I also realized that I am only able to post thumbnails once I am a subscriber.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!

Definition of terms:

standard Quality: Efficiency is the plan here. I will illustrate the image in the quickest time possible while ensuring quality work.

EPIC Quality: I will spend as much time as possible using the highest limits of my abilities, and possibly go beyond it as a stepping stone for improvement, to hopefully give more than what the client expects. Though it should be considered that this level of quality takes me quite a while to finish,so THIS CAN'T BE RUSHED. If i finished early than expected, then YAY!

Ordering

You can send me a note if you want to place an order.
The note should include:
1. Order Details: Description of the character and/or scene. All the necessary information regarding what you want done. However, PLEASE be very clear with your descriptions. It would be easier for the both of us if I understand what you want me to do, so please kindly don't ramble, and limit yourself to a maximum of 5 sentences.

2. Reference Material: Give me a maximum of 3 images. Too many reference materials can be confusing and frustrating when it comes to management.

Payment

1. Once the order has been confirmed, the client shall wait and receive a 'ready note' from me. Once received, This is when the client can send me the payment so I could start working on the artwork. I discourage sending me the payment before receiving a ready note, since you are basically asking me to work beyond my body's limit. I don't want to create problems with my clients from 2 or more conflicting deadlines, so please wait for a ready not before sending me the payment. :)

2. I will only start working on the artwork once the payment is transferred to my PAYPAL. Half down payment is allowed, but the client will not receive the final and full resolution artwork until I receive the full payment.

3. I also accept payments through xoom.

Process
1. Grayscale studies for approval: Minimum of 2, maximum of 4 (No request for going beyond 4 studies, NO EXCEPTIONS!)

2. Preliminary line art for approval (NO REVISIONS ONCE APPROVED, NO EXCEPTIONS!)

3. Color studies: 2 (NO REVISIONS ONCE APPROVED, NO EXCEPTIONS!)

4. Once ready for final rendering, you can give me a deadline if you want. However I WILL ask and negotiate for a longer deadline if I feel that the given time will not be enough. If I fail to finish the artwork on time, you will get a free sketch :)

5. Progress Updates: I will show up to 3 progress shots, depending on the level of detail of the artwork. Only ONE MINOR revision per progress shot is allowed (meaning no changes on the pose of the character(s), no changes on the overall hue, the lighting, the background elements, no changes that'll basically change the whole image into something totally different.)

6. Final Artwork: Once the full resolution PSD/TIF/JPG is sent to the client, the deal is done. But like I mentioned above, pay first before you get the whole thing.

Other stuff to keep in mind

While I have no problems in following the client's instructions, there are times that I might give suggestions for the clients to consider for a hopefully more efficient production.

In terms of mature content, I have no qualms in illustrating nudity, as long as it's tasteful does not include sexual intercourse and genitalia exposure. Also, sorry but I only do straight content. (Now do understand that I've no problem with gay people, I'm just not comfortable illustrating such stuff.)

!!!!!!Read this part carefully!!!!!!

To avoid any further problems and possible situations of taking advantage of me and my commissioning terms (such as feigning ignorance), I would like you to type the magic word "Hola" (remove the quotation marks) at the end of your order note. Once I receive the note with the word in it, you have agreed to all my terms and conditions. The word is subject to change randomly, so always read this part. Thank you :)

One and final request, PLEASE REVIEW WHAT YOU'VE JUST READ.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. :)

*Disclaimer* This demo hasn't been proof read, so expect to see spelling and grammatical errors.

This demo contains the whole of chapter 1, just to give viewers an idea of the plot. This is more of the 'official' public demo. Compared to the one I've released last time which was a test version, this one contains the final look and feel of the game (subject to minor changes though, given the reason and opportunity.)

I'd like to say sorry for not updating on the project for long while. Other than being busy from polishing certain parts of the game, I'm also handling a couple of client based projects and my portfolio.

Just for the record, the demo contains an opening video cutscene. Upon making it, I realized that there should probably only be one cutscene per release, since it took me 1 to 2 weeks for production, post prod and editing. It was quite tedious. And small mistakes can be very vexing, as I would need to re-render a huge chunk of it again if I only saw them past render stages.

I'm going to be honest though, the progress of Vol1 itself hasn't moved up that much. I concentrated in further improving the plot of the game while it's still early, rather than banging my head on a wall when I realize that there's an annoying plot hole in the long run.

But now that the video and demo is finally done. I could start devoting time to the game's progress again :)

I mean, Dear Friends, fellow deviants, and those who are still interested,

You're probably wondering what happened to my comics "The Metro", why am I not posting new stuff, or worse.
Here's my answer: at one point in my life, I've come to a realization, and full acceptance of that realization.

I've realized that 'I didn't really like doing comics'. Yeah, you heard me, I said I didn't really like doing comics.
Then why did I made several comics back then? Here's my answer: I was too inspired. Yes, I was overwhelmed by my surroundings. Everyone who I knew that did comics in the most awesome way possible, inspired me to do comics, while ignoring the fact that I didn't enjoy it at all.

How did I come to realize that? Well, isn't it when you enjoy doing something, no matter how hard that something is, you still do it because it gives you fulfillment, completion, contentment and satisfaction? Well, I didn't feel any of that whenever I'm making comics. What I did feel was exhaustion, sluggishness, frustration, headaches, impatience and in the end, indignation. A lot of negatives right? So where do I feel those positive emotions on the other hand?

I feel them in these three different worlds: Painting, Story Writing, Music Making.
And... I accepted that fact and moved on, not lingering in the past.

But what about the Metro? I did not abandoned the Metro, hell no, that is my pet project! I only abandoned its comic book form. It took a new form, revolving around the 3 things I enjoy to do.

But what form did it take you ask? Download it and see for yourselves...

It's currently in test phase; the backgrounds are too rough for my tastes, and some of the narration and dialogues need proof reading. I do all aspects by myself(art, music, coding, writing) that's why this is gonna take long, but this is what I enjoy doing, so there's no reason for me to stop now when it's only beginning!
_________________________________________________________________________________

Although I don't mean to say that those who helped me, inspired me, taught me while I was still in the world of comics were for nothing. No. I learned a lot of useful skills in comics creation that could be applied in what I'm doing now.
_________________________________________________________________________________

I'd like to share what inspired me to write and draw the world of the Metro. I think it's no mystery to anyone, It's 'BLACKSAD'. That awesome masterpiece by Juan Jose Guarnido brought me to a higher road to take my art to. His unmatched quality of art helped me appreciate traditional media again. I learned watercolor from him. Not from anyone, but him only.

Sometimes, I think that my work is a rip-off of Guarnido's work, and probably you'll think the same thing, and if you tell me that, I'll face it like a man and do something about it. I don't intend to defile the universe Juan Jose Guarnido made by copy pasting it and calling it my own. Hell no. But looking at what the Metro now in another way, I guess I could say that this is my humble little homage to his masterful work, And I intend to keep it that way.

  That's all folks!
