blank template by :iconfox-orian:

Bruce Lee: He said in his book that a man reaches the highest peak of art when he doesn't care about what others will think of him. Don't think, feel.

Blacksad: How could you not love blacksad?

Music: It's a helpful motivation and mood setter.

Lush Backgrounds: I simply love them and their atmosphere.

Redwall: Redwall is the only universe where I saw a squirrel through a javelin that went through a rat's mouth, killing the rat instantly.

Persona: The art direction.

Shigeru Mizuki: The living manifestation of japan't myth and folklore.

Umineko: For the story and trolling.

Higurashi: *same*

Junji Ito: I thought comics could not scare me, I was wrong.

FFIX: An Idealist's fantasy world.

Sidescrollers: Sorry, I'm a nostalgia fag.

Frazetta: One day I saw his works, my art direction changed forever.

My favorite quote from Bruce Lee is, "It is like a finger pointing to the moon, do not focus on the finger or you will miss all the heavenly glory." That man will always be the best. :dummy:

So that Junji Ito image really intrigued me, enough to check out some of his work. I read a few of his stand alone storied from a manga collection I found, and I must say I'm completely captivated by his work. They are truly horrifying and masterfully written/drawn. Thank you for introducing me. If you have any suggestions on any of his best works let me know.

You should go look for "Uzumaki" or Spiral in english. It's what I would call an Epic Horror.

Wow. I've read the first two chapters so far, and I'm just blown away. Junji Ito is a master of horror. It's hard to describe how much I'm terrified and somehow enjoying this all at the same time. Thank you immensely for the great read.

I'm glad you love it! It's one of a kind.
His other works you should look for are:
Gyo (get ready to puke)
Mimi's Ghost Stories
Enigma of the Amigara Fault
Tomie

I started reading Blacksad because of you. Best graphic novel I've ever read. Arguably better than Watchmen. A very close tie with Akira by Otomo and Pheonix by Tezuka.

As an artist and a martial arts trainee, I like his philosophies, especially the 'Don't think, feel' principle.

several: boxing, muay thai, JKD, a little bit of wing chun, arresting techniques, aikido, arnis, Jo stick and cheap moves used for street fights.

when you mean JKD you mean jeet kun do? and hmm how long have you been studying the martial arts?

and have you stayed in the system or you go from one to another one and mixes things up?

yeah, JKD is jeet kun do. I've been studying martial arts for 16 months and still going. I've started with muay thai for 8 months. Then moved to an instructor which teaches all of that I mentioned. We box often, then there are days when we are taught other disciplines and how it can be applied to a different discipline and adjusted to be able to utilize it well in the streets.

interesting, but here's is my question? where is your intention or your goals for learning these styles? are you trying to learn them to protect yourself, for sport, to get into a career like muay thai or in MMA?

I can tell that your free style and your like to learn different styles to use, but I was wondering why? to give you some information of why? you remind me of a friend that someone that I know that tells me stories and about the world of martial arts, in fact I read some of Bruce lee's Books about JDK. just to let you know about something try not to go to that route where what are the people are doing or what they think is the new thing and everyone has to follow that route, and try to learn something new only the small parts or the other stuff about it rather than learning the whole system.

be careful there are some things that people might tell you can some times be false and some are true but from some of the stuff that I remember from what I've learned from Bruce lee, there wasn't enough motion back in those days where the guys just stand around instead of moving around in the martial arts in fact back in the day when two guys were fighting they just stand there and wait with there arms out, and the first one to land a solid hit score a point. and there was also a scene from the last film of Bruce lee's was doing a scene similar to that before he'd died.

one of the things that Bruce lee introduce was motion. as the old saying goes be like water.

I learn them to protect me and the lives of those I care about, not for show or for competition or for the sake of fighting.

The reason I learn different styles is exactly because of your last sentence: 'Be like water', and I understand that saying, to adapt to whatever situation given.

For the record: I don't believe that a certain style is better than the other, or an absolute style over everything else. Instead, believe in the skill and experience of the player. I believe in fear, and I use that fear to remind me that no matter how good or bad I am, there's always a chance that I can get hit hard.

But what exactly are you worried about? Sensya pre, but two paragraphs with several run on sentences can be confusing to read, so I'll try to thoroughly understand and appease your worries.

For the issue of motion you brought up, we aren't taught to fight like the example of the two fighters you gave. We were taught not to 'wait' for an opening or an opportunity to execute a technique. Instead, we set the pace of the fight and strike before you get hit, strike hard and fast with an intention to finish the fight ASAP, to survive. In a real street fight there are no rules, let alone 'waiting'.

sir, I love super metroid and I love your super metroid fanart! It's probabaly the only 2d sidescroller that scared the shit out of me as a kid (especially the wrecked ship). I love the series so much, that I bought the prime trilogy for the wii!

Btw, did you know there's a fan remake of Metroid 2 using zero mission's engine?

thanks a lot, I'm deeply honored!

well... I heard something about that, but never really knew if they finished it or not. Did they? I was also excited about a fan game using Super Metroid graphics (I was supposed to contribute with some arts) but it seems they didn't continue it...

any news will be appreciated!
