Rest Mr. Jacques by chichapie Rest Mr. Jacques by chichapie
RIP Brian Jacques.

Edit:
I showed this to my martial arts instructor who is a fan of redwall (more so his daughter). He said I should increase the number of people attending the wake. That struck me like an arrow that buzzed to through the still air.

Thank you very much :iconalicexz: for the DD!

I feel bad that I have only discovered his series after his death, but... wow. This piece is the true meaning of awesome.

and why can't i ever get anyone into the series? they hear "mice, hares, badgers, otters, etc" and give up

only one of my friends loves redwall. another one think's it's boring.

Rest In Peace, Brian Jaques.

I must have cried, like 5 hours straight, and this was even more ironic, because I had in my hands my freshly bought copy of his final work: The Rouge Crew. I don't let ANYONE touch the book. Ever. *sigh* I'll miss Redwall, Salamadastron, the High North Coast, the Hidden Sea, Loamhedge, Mossflower, and all the lands within.

I'm afraid to read his last book because then it'll be like it's all over. No more stories of the beautiful world of Redwall. TT__TT

Brian Jacques incredible writing were a cherished treasure as i was growing up as a kid being severely abused by others my age and being vastly isolated.

I had the opportunity to visit Mr. Jacques' grave whilst I visited Liverpool. Sadly, I could not find it, nor could the locals tell me where he lay. Still, I said a few words, and it was nice to be around his old stomping grounds.

As a long time fan of this series, and the author... I... REALLY had wanted to someday meet him...

I guess i shall have to be very, very patient till the next (and final) chance rolls around ^^

Dear Brian Jacques,

Your fans shall be like your heirs to this wonderful series... and although it will never have the same true "Brian-esq" ring to it, these stories shall live on through us...

...if any surviving relatives permit ^^

Thank you for ever leaving your Abby's doors open to us!!!

Love the series. My first Redwall book was Pearls of Lutra. I started reading his books because my English wasn't that great at the time, and his books helped a lot. I still can't believe he's gone. T_____T

This is astounding. What a lovely, well thought out painting. I think I recognise beasts, is that Matthias and Cornflower, The Taggerung, Sunflash and Slagar? And possibly Gabool too in the background? Gosh what memorable characters.

I met Brian once at a book signing. It is one of my best memories, ever. Seeing as I was young and didn't know a great deal about him as a person, I was expecting him to be like one of the characters in his books (something I always always think about authors, until I see them) but when he appeared he was so different it was funny. He was a really charismatic scouser with a really strong Liverpool accent who held the attention of the whole room. He signed my book and called me a silver lady (was wearing a lot of silver at the time) and I'll never forget him. He was so bubbly and kind.

I don't think the mouse in the foreground is Matthias. I think he's Martin because his sword is too short, Matthias would be wearing the Champion's longsword, that looks like the pygmy shrew sword Martin carried throughout most of Martin the Warrior, I'm no expert, but that's my opinion ;). And Martin was one of Mr. Jacques favorites.

If you can remember that he wore a shrew sword for most of his first book (I had forgotten) then you're somewhat of an expert. Heh. It could well be, that would make Rose the one by his side I assume? Or maybe they are generic mice intended to represent all of the mouse characters that came and went in his books at once?

I'd love to know O.o
