I haven't read the Redwall series (although I feel I ought to try them) but the lighting and soft, liquid shading of this picture can easily be appreciated on their own. Gorgeous work on the homely atmosphere and the clever use of lighting/contrast and colour. Beautiful work!
Ive only read 1...yung Outcast of redwall. Story nung new badger lord na si Sunflash at anak ng mortal na kaaway nya na ferret. got the book from book sale....di ko na alam san pa makakabili ng ibang books nun....
At first glance I kind of thought of it as the prologue/epilogue scene, where Bella is telling the Mossflower story to Gonflet's son. It's as if they're in a little room and around them has sprung up the world in the ghostlike past about which Bella is speaking. Of course, when I took a second glance I saw the sword handle - and, of course, the mouse is a bit big to be the baby mouselet described in the intro.
A gorgeous shot - I wish I could draw mice as well.
In the prologue of Mossflower a young mouse (who is revealed to be son of Gonflet, Gonff's son, at the end of the epilogue) visits Bella, who tells him the story of Mossflower. When I saw this pic as a small image on someone's favorites list I mistook Martin for Gonflet's son, since it was too small to see clearly. When I got it bigger here, though, I saw the mouse was too large to be Gonflet's son and another look showed me the sword handle - Martin.
i used to watch this show as a kid but i couldnt remember the name. in french its called rougemuraille . by seing your art i just did some research and found it. i didnt even know it was a book before being animated.
